Compare Blood Test Results — Side by Side Analysis

Track how your markers change over time, overlay multiple markers on one graph, and spot correlations your doctor might miss. Upload tests from any lab, any date — our AI handles the rest.

Why Compare Your Results?

A single blood test is a snapshot. Comparison turns snapshots into a story — revealing trends, patterns, and changes that matter for your health.

Treatment Monitoring

See exactly how your cholesterol, HbA1c, or thyroid markers respond to medication over weeks, months, or years. Know whether your treatment plan is working.

Lab-to-Lab Consistency

Different labs use different machines and reference ranges. Comparing results across labs reveals genuine changes versus normal measurement variation.

Seasonal Patterns

Vitamin D drops in winter, iron fluctuates with diet, and cortisol changes with stress. Multi-date comparison reveals cyclical patterns unique to your body.

Lifestyle Impact Measurement

Started a new exercise programme, changed your diet, or quit smoking? Overlay before-and-after results to see the measurable impact on your blood markers.

Pre/Post Surgery Tracking

Monitor recovery after surgery by comparing inflammatory markers, haemoglobin, and organ function tests against your pre-operative baseline.

Two Ways to Compare

SmarterBlood offers two complementary comparison modes. Use them individually or together to build a complete picture of your health trends.

Multi-Date Comparison

Same marker, different tests

Upload blood tests from different dates and see how any individual marker changes over time. The interactive trend graph plots every recorded value with the date on the x-axis and the result on the y-axis.

Works with 2, 5, 10, or 50+ tests — no limit

Hover over any data point for exact value and date

Reference range shaded in green for context

Automatic flagging when a marker crosses out of range

Zoom into specific date ranges for closer inspection

Multi-Marker Comparison

2-4 markers on one graph

Select up to four different markers and overlay them on a single graph. This reveals correlations and inverse relationships that are invisible when looking at markers one at a time.

Select 2-4 markers using the checkbox next to each marker

Toggle between overlay (shared axes) and side-by-side views

Colorblind-safe palette (Paul Tol scheme) for accessibility

Each marker retains its own reference range shading

Click "Compare" button when 2+ markers are selected

Multi-Date Comparison in Detail

Every marker on your dashboard automatically becomes a trend graph the moment you upload a second test with the same marker. There is nothing to configure — the graph builds itself as your data grows.

The x-axis shows your test dates, and the y-axis shows the marker value. The reference range (normal range) is shaded in green so you can instantly see when a result sits outside the expected band. Data points that fall outside the range are highlighted with a warning colour.

Hover over any data point to see the exact numeric value, the test date, the lab that produced the result, and the reference range that applied at the time. This is especially useful when comparing results from different labs that may use slightly different ranges.

Multi-Marker Comparison in Detail

Some health insights only emerge when you look at multiple markers together. Iron and ferritin moving down simultaneously tells a different story than iron dropping while ferritin stays stable. The multi-marker comparison feature makes these relationships visible.

Select up to four markers by clicking the checkbox beside each marker name on your dashboard. Once you have two or more selected, the “Compare” button appears. Click it to generate an overlay graph with colour-coded lines — one for each marker.

The colour palette uses the Paul Tol scheme, a scientifically designed set of eight colours that remain distinguishable for people with all forms of colour vision deficiency. Each line also uses a distinct marker shape (circle, square, triangle, diamond) for additional visual separation.

Popular multi-marker combinations:

Iron Studies: Iron, Ferritin, Transferrin, TIBC

Lipid Panel: Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides

Thyroid: TSH, Free T4, Free T3

Kidney: Creatinine, eGFR, Urea, Uric Acid

Liver: ALT, AST, GGT, ALP

Diabetes: HbA1c, Fasting Glucose, Insulin

Practical Comparison Scenarios

Real-world examples of how Australians use the comparison feature to understand their health better.

Before & After Medication
Total Cholesterol, LDL, HDL, Triglycerides

Started statins or blood pressure medication? Compare your lipid panel from before starting treatment to 3, 6, and 12 months later. See the trajectory, not just a single snapshot.

Diet Change Impact
HbA1c, Fasting Glucose, Triglycerides, CRP

Switched to a Mediterranean diet, gone low-carb, or cut out processed food? Overlay your metabolic markers to measure the real impact on your blood chemistry.

Pregnancy vs Non-Pregnancy
Haemoglobin, Iron, Ferritin, Folate, Thyroid

Compare your pre-pregnancy baseline with tests during and after pregnancy. Track iron stores, thyroid function, and haemoglobin to ensure healthy recovery.

Seasonal Vitamin D
Vitamin D, Calcium, PTH

Upload tests from winter and summer to see your personal vitamin D seasonal curve. Many Australians drop below optimal levels between June and September without realising it.

Exercise Programme Effect
CK, LDH, Uric Acid, CRP, Haemoglobin

Track how your body responds to a new training programme. Creatine kinase (CK) spikes after intense exercise, while CRP and inflammatory markers should settle as fitness improves.

What Comparisons Reveal

The insights you gain from comparing results go far beyond what any single test can tell you.

InsightWhat It Tells YouExample
Trend DirectionIs the marker going up, down, or staying stable?Cholesterol dropping steadily over 4 tests
Rate of ChangeHow fast is the marker moving?HbA1c dropped 1.2% in 3 months (rapid improvement)
Marker CorrelationDo two markers move together or inversely?Iron falls as ferritin falls (consistent depletion)
Treatment EffectivenessDid the intervention produce the expected change?LDL dropped 35% after starting statins
Reference Range ConsistencyDoes the marker stay within range across tests?Potassium bouncing between 3.4-3.6 (borderline)
Outlier DetectionIs one test result an anomaly or part of a trend?Single high WBC was a one-off, not a pattern

How to Compare — 4 Simple Steps

From upload to insight in under three minutes. No manual data entry, no spreadsheets, no configuration.

1
Upload your blood tests

Upload PDFs, photos, or forward emails from your pathology lab to mail@smarterblood.org. Upload as many tests as you like — the more you upload, the richer the comparison.

2
Select markers to compare

On your dashboard, click the checkbox next to any marker. Select 2-4 markers for multi-marker comparison, or click any single marker to see its trend across all uploaded tests.

3
Click Compare

Hit the Compare button. Your selected markers appear on one graph with colour-coded lines. Hover over any point for the exact value, date, and reference range.

4
Toggle views

Switch between overlay view (all markers on shared axes) and side-by-side view (each marker on its own panel). Use Shift+Click to quickly add or remove markers from comparison.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many blood tests can I compare at once?

There is no limit on the number of tests. You can upload 2, 10, or 50 blood tests from different dates and the trend graph will plot every recorded value for any marker. For multi-marker comparison, you can overlay up to 4 markers simultaneously.

Can I compare results from different pathology labs?

Yes. SmarterBlood normalises results from any lab worldwide. Even if two labs use different reference ranges or units, the system converts everything to consistent units so your comparison is accurate.

What if my markers use different units across tests?

Our AI automatically detects and converts units. For example, if one test reports glucose in mg/dL and another in mmol/L, both are converted to a common unit for accurate comparison.

Is the colorblind-safe palette really accessible?

Yes. We use the Paul Tol colour scheme, which is specifically designed for people with protanopia, deuteranopia, and tritanopia. Each line also has a distinct marker shape for additional differentiation.

Can I compare markers from different clinical categories?

Absolutely. You might compare iron (haematology) with CRP (inflammatory) to investigate whether inflammation is driving iron changes. Any 2-4 markers from any category can be overlaid.

Do I need to pay to access comparison features?

No. Every comparison feature — multi-date trends, multi-marker overlay, side-by-side view, and interactive hover — is completely free for the first one million users.
