4 Ways to Upload Your Results

Choose whichever method suits you best. All methods produce the same high-quality analysis.

Upload a PDF

The most common method. Most pathology labs provide results as PDF attachments via email or through their patient portal.

1

Log in to SmarterBlood and click "Upload"

2

Drag and drop your PDF file, or click to browse

3

Multi-page PDFs are automatically split and ordered

4

AI processes all pages and extracts every marker

Best for: Results received by email from your lab or downloaded from a patient portal
Take a Photo

Have a printed report from your GP? Take a photo with your phone camera. Our AI handles printed text, faxes, and even handwritten annotations.

1

Open SmarterBlood on your phone

2

Tap "Upload" and select Camera

3

Photograph each page of your report

4

AI reads the image and extracts all markers

Best for: Printed reports, faxed results, or when you only have a paper copy
Forward an Email

The simplest option. When your lab emails your results, just forward that email to us. No login needed — we match it to your account automatically.

1

Forward the email from your lab to mail@smarterblood.org

2

Use the same email address as your SmarterBlood account

3

PDF attachments are automatically extracted

4

Results appear on your dashboard within 2 minutes

Best for: People who receive results by email and want zero-effort uploads

Already scanned your report? Upload PNG or JPG images directly. Works with scanned documents, screenshots from patient portals, and saved images.

What Happens After You Upload

Your blood test passes through a 6-stage processing pipeline. The entire process takes under 2 minutes and is fully automated.

1
Virus Scan
~5 sec

Every uploaded file is scanned for malware before processing.

2
Document Classification
~3 sec

AI classifies the document to confirm it is a blood test result (not a referral, imaging report, etc.).

3
AI Extraction
~30 sec

Four independent AI systems read every marker name, value, unit, and reference range from your report.

4
Verification
~20 sec

Results are cross-checked between models. Disagreements are resolved by a dedicated OCR tiebreaker.

5
Validation
~5 sec

Physiological limits and reference ranges are checked. Impossible values are flagged for review.

6
Analysis
~30 sec

Historical trends are calculated, abnormalities flagged, and plain-English explanations generated.

Tips for Best Results

Use the original PDF when possible

PDFs from pathology labs produce the most accurate results because the text is digital, not scanned. Photos of printed reports still work well, but PDFs are ideal.

Upload all pages of multi-page reports

If your report has multiple pages, upload the entire PDF. Our AI automatically splits and orders pages correctly.

For photos, use good lighting

Lay the report flat on a table, use even lighting without shadows, and hold your phone directly above the page. Avoid angles that cause distortion.

Upload old tests for better trends

The more historical data you upload, the better your trend tracking. Many users upload 5-10 years of results from their filing cabinet.

One report per upload

Upload one blood test report at a time. If you have 5 different test results, upload them as 5 separate files for best accuracy.

Check results on your dashboard

After uploading, check your dashboard within 2-3 minutes. If any markers are missing, try re-uploading a clearer version of the report.

Your Uploads Are Private and Secure

Every file is virus-scanned before processing

AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.3 in transit
