A plain-English blood test explainer for your patients
Patients upload their pathology report as a PDF or a photo. SmarterBlood explains each result, charts it against their earlier tests, and produces a one-page Dear Doctor summary of what changed and what they want to ask. It is free for patients.
Since 1 July 2026 most pathology results reach My Health Record within 24 hours, so many patients read them before their follow-up appointment. SmarterBlood helps them read their own results and arrive with questions for their GP.
What your patient brings to the appointment
A one-page Dear Doctor summary
Results outside the lab's reference range, what changed since the last test, and the questions the patient wants to ask.
Trend charts for each marker
Every report the patient has uploaded, from any lab, on one chart per marker.
A link back to the source page
Each value links to the page of the original report it was read from, so it can be checked against the lab's own print-out.
Specialist-focused reports
Cardiology, endocrine, liver, kidney and haematology layouts for patients who have a referral.
How the readings are checked
Each page is read by more than one AI model and the values are compared before the patient sees them. Results are checked against the reference range printed on that lab's report. A poor scan or fax can still be misread, which is why every value links back to its source page.
Patients control their records
Patients can download or delete everything in their account at any time, and we never sell health data.
Free waiting-room leaflets
A5 leaflets for patients who want help reading their results. Tell us where to send them and we will post them free of charge.
Questions from practices
Does it cost the practice anything?
No. SmarterBlood is free for patients and there is nothing for the practice to buy. We do not pay referral fees or offer incentives of any kind for recommending it.
Does the practice need to set anything up?
No. Patients sign up and upload their own reports. There is nothing to install and SmarterBlood has no access to your practice software.
Which pathology providers does it read?
Reports from any pathology provider, as a PDF or a clear photo of each page. Faxed and scanned pages work, although a poor scan is more likely to be misread.
Does it give patients a diagnosis?
No. It explains what each marker measures and where the result sits against the lab's reference range, and every summary tells the patient to discuss their results with their doctor.
